Industrialization and modernization have been consistent and enduring goals of Vietnam's Party and State throughout the nation's construction and development. Over the past 50 years, Viglacera Corporation – JSC has actively contributed to this journey with significant achievements.
On July 29 in Hanoi, Viglacera held a grand ceremony to celebrate its 50th anniversary (1974–2024).
The event was attended by many distinguished guests, including Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, former Politburo Member and former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Mr. Trinh Dinh Dung, former Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Party Central Committee Member and Minister of Construction; and Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Party Central Committee Member, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association. Also present were former Ministry of Construction leaders, generations of Viglacera leadership, staff, and workers.
Founded 50 years ago as a tile and ceramic manufacturing company tasked with supplying basic materials for the country’s reconstruction post-reunification, Viglacera embraced innovation during the “Doi Moi” reform era. It pioneered the production of construction glass, sanitary ware, and ceramic tiles in Vietnam, replacing imported goods.
Viglacera went on to achieve further milestones with AAC autoclaved aerated concrete (2010), ALC panels (2018), Low-E and Solar Control energy-saving glass (2016), ultra-clear glass, and sintered stone (2023).
Though its real estate journey only began in 1998, Viglacera has already achieved remarkable results: 15 industrial parks in Vietnam and abroad totaling over 4,000 hectares, attracting $18 billion in investment—70% of which comes from foreign investors.
The corporation also invests in 18 commercial and social housing projects and operates a 5-star resort certified with the EDGE Advanced green building standard by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Having undergone several changes in its operational model, Viglacera officially transitioned to a joint stock company in 2014. Since then, the corporation has steadfastly pursued strategic development goals, accelerating investments and ensuring sustainable, high-performing growth.
Ten years after equitization, Viglacera continues to implement effective solutions, shifting production and investment toward green development. Today, it stands as a leading brand in Vietnam’s building materials, industrial infrastructure, and social housing sectors.
Its business results speak for themselves: parent company pre-tax profit has increased tenfold, consolidated pre-tax profit nearly 3.5 times, consolidated assets have doubled, and owner’s equity (as of 2023) has tripled. Total dividends paid from state capital since equitization reached VND 2,165 billion.
Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi speaks at the anniversary ceremony
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi praised Viglacera’s strong support and alignment with the Party and State’s economic policies and the Ministry of Construction’s development direction.
He noted Viglacera’s prominence as a top-tier real estate developer with 15 industrial parks covering more than 4,000 hectares and drawing $18 billion in investment. Its 18 residential developments feature modern, fully integrated technical and social infrastructure.
Many of Viglacera’s projects have become role models, reflecting the Party and State’s commitment to housing for all—especially for policy beneficiaries, industrial workers, and low-income urban residents.
Despite challenges, Viglacera is among the few Vietnamese enterprises with a successful investment footprint in Cuba. Projects such as its ceramic tile and sanitary ware factory and the ViMariel Industrial Park in the Mariel Special Development Zone have helped bolster Cuba’s socio-economic development and deepen the special Vietnam–Cuba friendship.
The Minister emphasized Viglacera’s critical role in fulfilling national construction sector goals and contributing to overall economic growth.
Looking ahead, he encouraged Viglacera to continue innovating, improving corporate governance, boosting productivity and competitiveness, and optimizing state capital and assets to uphold and enhance its legacy.
He also called on Viglacera to adopt advanced technologies, enhance environmental sustainability, and responsibly utilize resources. While expanding its strengths in traditional and green product lines, the Minister urged further research and production of new, specialized materials for Vietnam’s evolving construction needs.
Importantly, he stressed the need for greater attention to Party-building, reinforcing leadership cohesion and integrity, and ensuring that Viglacera remains a pioneering force in Vietnam’s construction industry.
