According to the program's statistics, Vietnamese cities are seeing an annual population increase of 1 to 1.3 million people. However, inconsistent and uncoordinated urban development has resulted in spontaneous urbanization, causing significant negative impacts on living environments, overburdened infrastructure, traffic congestion, and pollution. With many Vietnamese cities consistently ranking among the most polluted in terms of air quality, the public demand for greener spaces is on the rise. Promoting green construction policies is seen as a key solution to this problem. In essence, the use of green building materials is at the core of driving green growth and sustainable construction.
To address this issue, the Ministry of Construction continues to organize the Vietnam Green Building Week 2024 under the theme "Green Building Development: From Policy to Action." The event includes participation from government agencies, international organizations, and domestic and foreign businesses involved in consulting, investing, and producing environmentally friendly green building materials. Discussions centered on new policies and practical solutions for advancing green construction in Vietnam.

During a roundtable discussion, Mr. Mai Xuan Duc presented a variety of green building material solutions that reduce natural resource exploitation and carbon emissions. These include autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC/ALC), large-format sintered stone under the Vasta Stone brand as an alternative to natural stone, Slimtech thin tiles, and energy-efficient glass. All products are part of Viglacera’s internationally certified Green Materials Ecosystem.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong, Director of Viglacera Autoclaved Aerated Concrete JSC, also shared insights into advanced German technology applied in AAC production.
The push toward sustainable and eco-friendly construction continues to gain momentum, especially among developed countries. Activities from Vietnam Green Building Week 2024 have helped raise awareness among stakeholders about the substantial benefits of green urban development and green buildings. These efforts reflect the construction industry’s commitment—with Viglacera at the forefront—to promoting energy efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and combating climate change in pursuit of sustainable development goals.
